Contrary to what has been printed in many popular New Age publications, Indigo Children have actually been born for the last forty-five or fifty years, though there has been a dramatic increase over the last ten years.
True Indigo children love people without prejudice, are amazingly accepting of other people's differences, and are extremely responsive to love. They serve and love their parents just because their parents love them. If disciplined unfairly, they will stick up for themselves, as they would for any injustice, but they are also very attuned/sensitive to their parent's emotions and can become easily upset if they feel they have somehow disappointed them. Their intelligence and psychic abilities are extremely high, but their "defiance" level is not. They just say how they see things from a more aware perspective without intensions of hurting others. This can make them great teachers to their parents.
Because of their heightened perceptions, it is normal and easy for their polarity to switch back and forth at any time (if you are working or healing in their body, your polarity will shift also).
At the present, most of the children on Earth have Indigo traits. Parents, though, have often labeled their extremely defiant and disruptive children as being Indigo when, in fact, there are other issues at hand. If their emotional make-up is very disruptive and abusive (hurtful, violent and unbelievably defiant), they could really be chemically imbalanced. These children's tendencies lean more towards manic depression. They should be worked on to bring them to a normal balanced state. We start by checking all factors such as family environment, possible abuse, body scanning of possible imbalances. Often, we recommend the elimination of sugars and red/yellow dyes.
It's also important for parents to learn about developmental stages of children and effective disciplinary modalities that are respectful to the child and situation, related to their children's actions, and create responsibility and accountability in their behavior rather then using punishment to serve short-term behavioral goals. Thus it is important for parents to model effective expressions of desired behavior, work on changing their own beliefs, improve their parenting and communication skills to empower their children. Similar to being intuitive towards their parent's feeling, learning in a classroom can be difficult if they sense that the teacher is judgmental towards them or doesn't like them. Because of their abilities to often see beyond the Third Plane of Existence construct, they can read people's intention and can appear to be confrontive in speaking out towards an emotionally difficult situation. Again, it's important to remember that their intention is to share their truth without being hurtful.
The blessing of these wonderful Indigo spirits being born on this Earth during this transitional period, is to teach us about true Unconditional love.
